The new 2016 Honda Accord Coupe has this week been launched in the kingdom and the model’s strong focus on safety will be particularly welcomed by drivers having to brave the manic motorists who continue to drive roughshod over the rules of the road.

The ninth-generation Accord is the first to boast the Advanced Safety Technology of Honda Sensing, which features e-drive assist technologies with the aim of providing the utmost in safety and security.

The suite of features includes Adaptive Cruise Control which extends the existing control system to include millimetre-wave radar and a camera that monitors the distance between your vehicle and vehicle ahead. It helps the driver maintain a constant following distance eliminating manual acceleration/deceleration.

Furthermore, there is the Lane Keeping Assist System to gently correct steering when a driver begins to leave a detected lane without signalling, Collision Mitigation Braking which reduces the likelihood of a potential collision by alerting the driver, and Road Departure Mitigation which alerts the driver with the help of signals and a rapidly vibrating steering wheel when the car drifts too close to the side of the driveway without an indicator activated.

On the inside, the Accord packs an eight-inch TFT Intelligent Multi-Information Display touch screen providing a raft of features at a touch.

Under the bonnet, the options are either a 2.4L four-cylinder engine capable of 185bhp or a 3.5L V6 delivering 276bhp.

Prices start from BD10,800 for the four-cylinder version and BD13,400 for the V6.
