The husband and wife team of Rob and Debbie Lane and Nils and Dagfrid Berge narrowly won the annual St Patrick’s Day Rumble Golf Tournament at the Royal Golf Club with a team score of 86 stableford points.
The team of David and Dena Wales, Ladies vice-captain Stacey Thomas and Colin Dear were runners-up with a score of 85 while a team comprising Phil Sadler, Peter Donkin, Jason Leighton and Gordon Bennie took third place with 82.
A nearest the pin in two shots side contest, held on the 18th hole was won by Sadler, while Kevin Ross won the prize for ‘Most Appropriately Dressed Person’ from a vast array of contenders.

Ali claims Junior Open crownBahraini Ali Al Kowari became Bahrain’s 2016 Junior Open Champion after winning the two-day event at the Royal Golf Club with impressive gross scores of 74 and 80 to claim the Under-16 division with a total of 154. Saud Al Sharif, who won the U21 age category, was second overall with a total gross score of 158, having scored 75 on day one and 83 on day two.
More than 35 youngsters competed in the competition that was held in association with Bahrain Golf Association (BGA). The tournament was split into three main categories, with under 21s and under 16s competing on the Montgomerie championship course and younger or less experienced golfers playing on the 9-hole Wee Monty par 3 course.
Taimur Malik was the runner-up in the U16 division with a two-day gross score of 159 while Fahad Al Hakam was runner-up of the under 21 category with a total gross score of 163. Ali Babtain won the Wee Monty competition with a total gross score of 61 and Habiba Maher gave the best girl’s performance, achieving a gross score of 87.
The prize-giving ceremony took place in the club’s Majlis function room where BGA representative Daij Khalifa distributed the prizes.

Under 21: 1st Saud Al Sharif (75 + 83 = 158), 2nd Fahad Al Hakam (82 + 81 = 163), 3rd Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed (85 + 79 = 164). Best Nett: Ali Al Hakam (70 + 78 = 148).
Wee Monty: 1st Ali Babtain (31 + 30 = 61), 2nd Ali Ahmed Abdulla (38 + 31 = 69), 3rd Abdulrazak Al Mahmood (34 + 37 = 71). Best Girl: Habiba Maher (41 + 46 = 87).
