Many students ask me why a golf glove is beneficial and also why do the majority of pros only wear one glove?
Basically, wearing a glove ensures a secure grip without having to add extra pressure, hampering the swing and is also a good way to stop getting blisters!
For right-handers the glove is worn on the left hand and vice versa for left-handed players. Having a glove only on the top hand is beneficial as a player holds the club predominantly with the palm and the lower hand is much more in the fingers.
A new glove should fit reasonably tightly without discomfort, so that there is no movement between the glove and handle.
The best quality gloves are made from cabretta leather (from sheep skin) and have fantastic feel and grip to the handle. Synthetic gloves are available, which are great in wet conditions and are longer lasting.
