AMA International School (AMAIS) in Salmabad has expanded its services by starting to accommodate students with mild cases of educational needs from pre-school to primary school.

The new programme will cater to students who have difficulty in achieving ‘expected levels of progress’ in school, and for whom activities in mainstream classes are not enough.

AMAIS says it aims to help children with speech and language delay, low level of self-esteem and concentration, dyslexia and dyscalculia, including non-readers and slow learners.

School officials say they have appointed qualified, certified and fully-trained professionals for its implementation and facilities have been built especially for special need students.

“This move of AMAIS is to prepare these children to conquer the growing world and also for other children to understand these special children and how to properly treat and mingle with them,” a spokesman said.

The school, opened in 2004, also aims to upgrade and expand its facilities by the middle of 2017. The plan includes 100 classrooms to be added for Middle and High School students, a state-of-the art multi-purpose hall that can accommodate 2,000 people, extended dining facilities and the provision of a track and field oval.
