If you were to study the top 30 golfers in the world closely, you would notice how some look very different at set-up and through the backswing and yet all produce superb, consistent golf shots.
Through years of practice, each of these golfers has gained an understanding of their own swing and can reproduce movements suitable to them, time and time again, to produce the best result.
The one position in the swing that has to be right is IMPACT – the moment when the club makes contact with the ball.
It can be tricky to find the right impact position for you, as at this point the body and club are moving the fastest during the swing.
A great drill to ‘feel’ the impact position is to lay your bag down on the ground and set up next to the bag as if it is the ball, with the shaft touching the bag. First try moving the heavy bag with only your arms and then compare how easy it is to move the bag when you open your hips a little and place more weight on the forward foot.
An effective way to feel the larger core muscles should be involved to gain more height and distance from your shots.
