British Airways announces the departure of its flight, flying from Bahrain to New York. All passengers are requested to proceed to Gate no. (to be announced) for boarding.’
It seems like only yesterday that for the first time I clambered about looking for my luggage at Bahrain International Airport - in truth, it has been eight years and my personal baggage has become even heavier - with countless memories and opportunities that I have had living here in Bahrain.
Now, it’s time to take off again.
It has been an absolute pleasure writing the legendary Youth Talk column and I would like to thank Editor Stan for giving me this huge and meaningful opportunity and infinite creative freedom along with it. Also, chief reporter Mai, for helping me out and being so kind.
I would also like to thank my readers for the constant encouragement and often writing into me and through our interactions in person. It was really heartening to see that the ideas that came from my heart were so well received. I shall continue to blog (saamiazia.com) and I hope to see you there!
I shall be reading Mechanical Engineering at Brown University in Rhode Island, which was my dream school. Funnily enough, while writing my last piece I thought I’d get to feel like an eighteen-year old Jay Pritchett, announcing his retirement from the closet company.
To the contrary, my ‘retirement’ is going to be filled with so many more challenges and no opportunity to grab my golf clubs and sink into sofas complaining about bad backs! It sure is time to fly but I’ll always have one foot on the ground.
Until then, it’s not a goodbye, it is a see-you-later …
