Preparations are forging ahead to bring the brightest brains of modern insurance practices together as the sector looks to further modernise with technological enhancements.

Bahrain FinTech Bay will host InsurByte 2019 under the patronage of the Central Bank of Bahrain and in strategic partnership with the Bahrain Insurance Association, FinTech Consortium and the Bahrain Institute of Banking & Finance.

InsurByte Conference 2019 aims to bring together local and global key regulators and policy advocates to find solutions and promote the best innovative InsurTech practices in a collaborative, open and transparent manner.

Taking place at the Gulf Hotel Convention Centre from June 12 - 13, the event promises to feature inspiring talks, engaging workshops and networking with key players in the insurance space, and InsurTech community.

Khalid Saad, CEO of Bahrain FinTech Bay, said: “We want to create platforms such as these to bring together similar mind-sets in times of rapid of technological change.

“InsurTech is an important space, and we’d like to be at the forefront. Technology has disrupted the traditional approach. We want to come together during the event to find solutions that make sense in today’s technological, cultural and economic climate.

“There is, in general, several issues - it’s too product-focused and lacks a customer-centric approach, the process can be tedious so we need more streamlined systems and there’s no utilisation of big data to better serve customers and know what products they need. These are some of the issues.

“We have leading market players in the space that will be present to share their foresight for the industry, and looking forward to the discussions and possible collaborations from this event.”

In addition, the event will shed light on topics such as block chain technology, big data and process automation, impact and role of regulation, cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

Amongst the most prominent speakers are experts from the Central Bank of Bahrain, Ronald Latenstein – the Dutch CEO of Sailfish Management, Juergen Stoffel – MD IT and Group CIO of Hannover Re, one of the largest reinsurance companies in the world, Tobias Taupitz –CEO & Co-founder of Laka, which describes itself as ‘straightforward insurance powered by the community’, amongst others.
