Golf Tip: Putting with consistency

Three putts are one of the most frustrating experiences to encounter on the golf course … and most of the time these can be completely avoided.

Many golfers have the tendency to be aggressive with every single putt, even from 30 feet away. As Jack Nicklaus used to say, with any putt from 16 feet or more, his main goal was to get the ball within a certain radius of the hole due to the low percentage chance of actually making the long putt.

So in your next round or on the practice green, try and imagine a one metre radius around the hole where you want your ball to finish in. On the practice green you can do this by setting out tees around the hole and practice getting the feel required to let the ball finish within that radius.

Give this a go and see how your putting becomes more consistent, ultimately leading to lower scores and a happier you!
