The glorious Japanese Golf Society members were victorious in this year’s Jim Porter Memorial Trophy at the Royal Golf Club with an overall team score of 241.
The accumulative team stableford tournament, which was played earlier in the year, is named in memory of former highly-popular Royal Golf Club member Jim Porter.
Royalists Team 1 came in a very close second place with 239 points.
Japanese Golf Society and Royal Golf Club member Hideki Matsuno managed a fabulous 38 points which made him the best individual stableford score on the day.
Jerome Colson, who was representing the Silver Stars took second place with 36 and former club captain Barry Hobday of the Royalists came in third with 35 points.
The top 24 member’s score secured them in another event later this month – the prestigious Presidents Cup.
More than 60 club members competed in the event which culminated in a prize-giving ceremony in the Members’ Lounge.
