Mystery thriller novel Escape! by author and reality TV star Stephen Fishbach has hit the shelves.
The story follows Kent Duvall, a once‑celebrated
reality show winner whose life has drifted into disappointment and obscurity.
When a scandal at a charity event is captured on camera,
Kent unexpectedly earns a spot on a new jungle survival series – his chance to
reclaim relevance.
He joins seven other contestants, each cast into a familiar
reality‑TV
archetype – Ruddy the bully, Miriam the nerd, Ashley the love interest, and
more.
As the schemes and strategies spiral out, breakout camps
sabotage each other and rival producers struggle to control the storyline.
Soon the question becomes less about who will win – but who
will make it out alive.
Stephen is best known for appearing on the reality show
Survivor, where contestants live in an isolated location and must secure their
own food, fire, and shelter while competing in physical and mental challenges
for rewards and immunity from elimination.
“I channelled all of my experience around reality television
– from being a contestant twice, to working on the network side at MTV, to
collaborating with reality TV producers,” Stephen said, explaining his thought
process behind the novel.
“I tried to capture the real texture of what it’s like to be
a producer and what it’s like to be a contestant, while also telling a fun,
exciting story.”
