Preparations are in full swing for this year’s celebration of ‘April is Autism Awareness Month’ at the Harbour Gate, Bahrain Financial Harbour.
The aim is to educate the public and build understanding about autism spectrum disorders and the difficulties and challenges that children with autism face.
This year, Financial Centre Development Company will host a week of art activities in the Harbour Gate, in conjunction with the RIA Institute, under the banner Art for Autism Awareness.
The official colour of the initiative is bright royal blue and for this reason the lights of the Harbour Towers will also be illuminated in blue throughout the month.
The main Art for Autism Awareness event will take place during the week of April 15-19, between 9.30am and 11.30am each day. Outside these hours the artwork will be on display.
We’ll be painting and assembling a giant wooden jigsaw of the colourful autism ribbon. It’s been constructed by Dutch carpenter Erich Bruckner and is designed to represent the complexity of autism spectrum disorders. As every piece is different in some way, the jigsaw will represent the diversity of every individual affected by autism.
Anyone, young and old, parents, children, teachers, members of the public, business leaders, can come to take part.
We are also absolutely delighted to have a graffiti wall, designed and painted by the Dirty Hands Crew that people can work on as well.
We hope that as many people as possible will take part in this free, fun event. Our aim is that through increased awareness and early intervention all people with autism will be able to lead a happier fuller life.
Othmann Al Attar, a student of the RIA Institute will also be present painting images of the Harbour Towers and Harbour Gate. He invites students and parents from across Bahrain to come along and create their own colourful masterpieces on the 2nd Floor of Harbour Gate.

I am really grateful for the great coverage you have given me over the release of my third novel, Bahir. It’s really amazing and honestly I cannot thank reporter Kristian Harrison enough.
The headline on last week’s cover: Teen tale takes off was appropriate as the book is meant for older readers this time, particularly women, aged 16-plus.
Best regards and I hope to see you all at the launch,

Let’s build multi-storey car parking facilities in congested places like Hoora, Gudaibiya and Salmaniya and, at the same time, expand the introduction of renewable energy. I would suggest installing solar energy panels on car parking buildings and roofs as a large scale promotion of green energy.

I just needed to thank Editor Stan Szecowka so very much for yet another great Eating Out review for Marzipan. We greatly appreciate all your support.
