Race car drivers won’t be the only ones turning heads this weekend at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) as followers of fashion showcase their summer looks as they roam around Sakhir’s action-packed paddock and Formula One Village before taking their seats in the stands.

And, if you aren’t too sure what to wear for the big occasion, then take a cue from the race chicks and petrol heads that attended the opening race of the season in Australia.

They dressed to impress whilst remembering the key to enjoying a fun-filled F1 weekend is a winning combination of comfort and style.

The Australian Grand Prix ambassador, Brooke Meredith, entrepreneur and founder & editor-in-chief of lifestyle publication, A Conscious Collection, advises ladies to ‘keep it practical on race days’ since many will be on their feet all day. However, for Australia’s Formula 1 2018 Rolex official launch party called Glamour on the Grid, she also called on guests to bring their polished and sparkling A-game to the circuits.

The message appeared to work Down Under with a combination of glamorous attire and comfortable shoes.

Ladies rocked in jumpsuits, lacey dresses and wedges while the men heeded the advice of GQ’s popular fashion magazine by throwing on their favourite dark denim or tailored shorts with patterned shirts and basic T-shirts to look trendy with a dash of pizazz to their outfits.

Formula 1 fashion in Bahrain looks set to follow suit. However, with the weather in the kingdom turning from ‘warm’ to ‘get ready to melt’, women attending the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2018 are likely to deck out in chic and cool styles starting with easy and breezy-to-wear blouses and dresses along with comfortable flats and open-toed sandals.

Keep your day attire at the track simple. Start with flats or trainers to keep your feet feeling good after those long walks back and forth between watching acts at the entertainment arena and picking up snacks from the food stalls. Men can stay cool in shorts and tees in their favourite race colours or take it a step further and wear their team memorabilia with pride.

Women can look pretty in maxi dresses, jumpsuits, leggings or even, dare we attempt, ‘jeggings’ (a combination of leggings and denim), paired with tank tops or T-shirts. Make sure, whatever you wear, to keep it light.

Also, carry around your F1 weekend essentials in a backpack or light-weight large handbag. Always make sure you have tissues, hand sanitisers, sunscreen, plasters, a small sewing kit (you never know when there will be a wardrobe malfunction), lip gloss, a hat or hair band and headache tablets.

After the track action, get set for the fancy functions around the island (see Leisure Guide on Page 8, 9 & 10).

This is where men can wear their dashing dark denim and tailored button-down shirts whilst women can showcase their stunning fitted dresses and finally kick on those killer heels.
