Cadillac’s will be making an entry in the industry’s fastest-growing luxury segment with the XT4, an all-new compact SUV.
Like all of its competitors, the XT4 packs turbocharged power, a choice of front or all-wheel drive and a full suite of the latest and greatest on-board technology.
The 2019 XT4 is likely to start at around BD13,500, making it cheaper than traditional midsize luxury rivals, but the Cadillac is also a bit smaller in size than these competitors. On the other hand, the XT4 is larger than the subcompact offerings on the market, but commands a higher price than these rivals.
Instead of nicely slotting into a pre-established segment, according to motoring analysts, the XT4 stands out as a bit of a ‘tweener’.
Developed on an exclusive compact SUV architecture, the US marque’s president Johan de Nysschen said: “The first-ever 2019 Cadillac XT4 expands our successful SUV line-up to a segment where Cadillac has never been before. And it sets off a dramatic expansion and elevation of the product range that will see a new Cadillac virtually once every six months through to 2021.”
All models are driven by an new Cadillac 2.0L Turbo engine that features new efficiency-enhancing technologies including Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation), coupled with a nine-speed automatic transmission with next-generation Electronic Precision Shift.
