ENGLISH singer-songwriter Raye is set to drop her new album This Music May Contain Hope tomorrow.
Structured around four distinct seasons, the body of work is
intended to offer a narrative journey ‘from darkness to light’, spanning the
complexities of human emotion.
In an interview, the artist described the creative process
as making medicine for herself that she can also share with others.
“I want us all to say to ourselves that it’s going to be all
right, and I’m going to have faith in the seeds that I’ve planted beneath the
snow,” Raye said.
“I wanted to create something that is a hug, bed or soft
place for that person who needs it,” she added.
The album consists of 17 tracks, including lead single Where
Is My Husband!, which became the artist’s second number-one on the UK singles
chart.
Named Rachel Keen, the 28-year-old creative talent first
showed interest in music when she was only seven years old.
She spent the early days of her musical career co-writing
for and collaborating with a number of artists.
In 2023, she independently released her debut album My 21st
Century Blues. The track Escapism, off the album, which features popular rapper
070 Shake, became her first number-one single in the UK.
