German brand MCM’s (Modern Creation München) newly-appointed in-house team has created and unveiled its first ever full ready-to-wear and accessories collection.

The fashion house recently presented its Spring/Summer 2019 Luft (Air) Collection during the Pitti Immagine Uomo event in the Italian city of Florence, which is one of the world’s leading platforms for showcasing and launching new clothing and accessory projects in men’s fashion.

This season, the label has expanded itself into an all-encompassing lifestyle brand featuring travel accessories and other designs.

Its new collection is inspired by skydiving and other aerial sports and was designed for global nomads of the 21st century to move around freely whether that is cross-city or country-to-country.

The line sits alongside signature backpacks, leather goods, eyewear and footwear.

The SS19 collection is vibrant, youthful and utilitarian. It was created with both statement and functionality in mind and presented through a powerful and immersive show in which guests experienced a multi-sensory runway event.

An atmospheric, tropical storm opened the show, leading into an audio and visual presentation that referenced the lines concept. Freedom of movement and spontaneous travel were captured through a storms, clouds and blue skies presentation. The feature was then highlighted by the landing of a skydiver across the show space.

As the finale of the show, clouds moved back to form rain and the models regrouped to allow the audience to get a close-up view.

The outfits include multiple pockets to store tech gear and devices.

The designs also include ribbon belts as well as elasticated and Velcro fastenings at the waist and wrists to allow the wearer to quickly adapt to a changing environment.

A sky-inspired palette of off-white, blues and grey is shot through with street-sign motifs in orange, yellow and red. Materials and applications such as metallic and holographic treatments again reference the collections inspiration allowing light to reflect and refract across the wearer.

Form-moulded wool and pleating was used to create contemporary suiting featuring lapels replaced by delicate detachable scarves and pendants. Transparent, ultra-lightweight fabrics featuring recycled feather detailing made reference to birds in flight.

A military-inspired model features a protective internal construction at the back and safety closure, while a hoody-incorporated version is perfect for comfortable travel. Continuing a hands-free and multi-purpose theme, handbags transform into cross-body bags and ID tags, and pouches can be worn on ready-to-wear or clipped onto other bags.

Three new models of shoes also debuted. The runner-sandal with breathable, waterproof-weave integrated socks offers flexible support through variable thickness. Another new silhouette comes in both high and low-top versions, large in volume but super-lightweight, using perforated leather inserts, mesh and EVA sole.
