The Bahraini Red Crescent Society’s campaign to support thousands of needy families in the kingdom during Ramadan has come to an end, writes, Mai Al-Khatib-Camille.

According to the society’s records for registered underprivileged families, the volunteers delivered aid to 4,500 families in 73 regions, villages, cities and governorates after Iftar, wearing masks and gloves and ensuring social distancing.

Mubarak Al Hadi, BRCS director general/acting general secretary, praised the efforts of the volunteers who worked tirelessly to distribute the boxes as well as for the difficulty of reaching a number of families whose addresses have been changed. He said: “Delivering this aid required double the efforts of the Society to fulfil its obligations this year to needy families under the slogan “giving with dignity”.

The Express Rent a Car company offered around 14 cars from its fleet to be used by the Society, for free, to distribute aid. A number of social media influencers and athletes participated as volunteers as well.

Mubarak added: “We’d like to thank all the Society’s partners for their support. We also urge companies and institutions, as well as beneficiaries of citizens and residents, to provide their hoped-for donations for the success of this aid programme in the same way this year as it did in the previous years.”
