Head down to Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre for a range of fun workshops.

A pottery session on different pottery styles and the tools needed to shape the clay will be held on Saturday, from 10am to 12.30pm in Arabic and English. Participants can also discover pottery wedging and kneading methods.

Those interested in heritage art can participate in a Traditional Boat Making workshop. It will identify the types of wood used for creating a boat model. Participants will also learn how to chop wood, draw and carve pieces of wood, and how to configure boat attachments.

It will be held on Saturday in Arabic and English, from 10am to 12.30pm.

Meanwhile, those aged 14 and above can take part in a class that introduces participants to the history of Arabic calligraphy and the main types of fonts used.

Topics include the Diwani Arabic script’s history and rules, tools used in the art, and how to write letters and words.

It’s available on Saturday in Arabic and English.

Culture junkies can obtain new skills in a Palm Tree Leaves Weaving workshop, a creative art form considered to be a traditional Bahraini craft, which is still practiced in some villages in the kingdom, such as Karbabad, Al Jasra and Budaiya.

Participants will learn about the various types of saff (palm fronds) and how to sew them during the workshop, being held in Arabic and English, on Saturday.
