LOCAL art group Bahrain Crochet Club is set to stage an event in Muharraq, expressing solidarity with breast cancer patients.

Visitors can buy handmade knitted items and proceeds from sales will be donated to Bahrain Cancer Society.

The programme will happen on October 10 in Al Manara Art and Culture Space at the Muharraq Youth Centre.

Club founder Kadija Alsaeed from Salmabad noted that members have spent the days leading up to the event designing diverse items, from cardigans to socks, hats and keychains.

“We will also be selling knitted pink ribbons,” the 39-year-old told GulfWeekly.

“Bahrain Cancer Society volunteers will join us as well,” she added.

There will be a free crocheting class on the same day for those interested, organisers revealed.

Launched in 2024, the platform welcomes women from all walks of life. Currently, there are more than 100 members across nationalities, including Bahraini, Brazilian, Sri Lankan and other Arabs.

Last year, they made a pink blanket, woven together using 30 granny squares that were individually knitted by the members.
