A dear friend is here visiting, escaping the ongoing cold, snowy UK spring. She spent 20 years in Bahrain so I haven’t had to turn into a de facto tour guide or apologise for the recent dusty days. Instead we have spent the days reminiscing and enjoying the time together, visiting the malls, swimming, and barbequing and doing lots of eating in and out.

Congratulations to Bahrain Rugby Football Club for the stunning success in winning the West Asia Cup Final … but not everyone was happy. So massive was the support that hundreds of commemorative T-shirts sold out within seconds, sporting the Red Wall headline featured on the back page of last week’s GulfWeekly. One desperate fan asked a young lady to get her top off, offering her BD50 … and he genuinely only wanted the T-shirt!
