Casual dining restaurant Vapiano opened at Bahrain City Centre last week under the patronage of the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Dr Hassan Fakhro.
The launch was attended by officials, the media and hungry diners eagerly waiting to sample the newest addition to Bahrain’s bustling eating out scene.
The Italian-themed restaurant offers made-to-order fire roasted pizzas, fresh, house-made pasta and hand-tossed gourmet salads.
It has more than 100 locations worldwide and has its sights set on enticing food lovers in the kingdom after successfully setting up in the GCC in Dubai, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The franchise operator in Bahrain, SunCity Ventures, says Vapiano offers a new spin on the dining experience with its urban Italian décor and modern interactive customer service.
Customers use a chip card to personally order their food or drinks from the bar or from the individual pizza, pasta or salad stations.
All dough and pasta is manufactured on-site in a glass room so that customers can watch the chefs at work.
Head of franchise CEE Middle East and Asia, Alexander Sgustav, said: “We pride ourselves on providing great food at a reasonable price and there is a wide selection for customers to choose from.
“The decor is very contemporary and with the fresh herbs placed right in front of you at your table, you feel like you’re in a trendy restaurant in Europe.”
The company was founded in Germany by Kent Hahne, Klaus Rader and Mark Korzilius and the first outlet opened in Hamburg in 2002.
