Though Bahraini Women’s Day is just an annual celebration, it is now becoming an annual activity that looks at new ways and means to raise the status of women in all fields.

We are really pleased about the increased participation and celebration as well as the preparations being made by all sectors, Government and Private, to celebrate the success of Bahraini women. This, no doubt, is an important date that everyone awaits with a lot of anticipation and passion.

On this occasion, we thank and praise Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Women, who launched this event and revealed through her vision the importance of giving Bahraini women a day in which the nation celebrates their contributions.

The support and empowerment of women is no longer an option but a duty for leaders and decision-makers.

Her Royal Highness has continued to support and empower women and has adopted methodologies to integrate their development with equal opportunities. This has been reflected positively since we see their increasing contribution in the process of development and national prosperity.

We are confident that the pace of progress of Bahraini women will continue at an increased pace. Bahraini Women’s Day will remain an opportunity to evaluate and study their progress and participation in Bahrain’s process of nation building, development and prosperity.

LOST

That woman standing there

As you see her crystal clear

In broad daylight

pretty and happy,

Is lost.

You may never know

But she is lost

In an invisible maze of life

With impenetrable walls around her–

You cannot see but she is trapped–

She knows not how to break through them

And cries invisible tears

Disguised as smiles on her face.

You may not know

But if you ask me

I’d tell you how lost she is–

To walls that close in on her every day

Bit by bit, in stealth–

How every day is a defeat

Of dreams she had

Of love she knew

Of the truth she treasured–

Oh how utterly lost!

When sunrises failed sunsets and poetry died a thousand deaths–

Oh how irretrievably gone is she—

Find her this way and she’s twice lost!

This time to you who thought you had found her!
