Tagline: September 11, 2001. Four planes were hijacked. Three of them reached their target. This is the story of the fourth. Based on the true events of September 11, 2001, four planes were hijacked and three hit their targets. This is the story of the fourth plane, where the passengers took in upon the themselves to try and regain control and stop it from reaching its intended destination, eventually crashing it into the ground near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The story is told without bias or accusation and in a way where the perspectives of all — including the hijackers — are put forward objectively. Paul Greengrass uses real time to tell the tale and casts unknowns to help with the realism and avoid association with any other film. There are no leading roles in this film and everyone from pilots to passengers and ground crew to loved ones at home has their fare share of screen time. One of the beauties of United 93 is that the politics behind the event are ignored and the very real and poignant emotions of all involved and brought centre stage. This is the first film ever to bring tears to my eyes and I recommend it to anyone of watching age — regardless of race, colour or creed. — Marie-Claire
