A job badly done

A call has gone out for a clamp on unscrupulous labour recruitment agents and to be honest it’s about time!

It’s bad enough that workers come over here and end up working for far less than they are promised when they sign up, or that so many of them are treated badly and rarely receive their dues, but when you take into consideration that the majority of these recruiters are their very own countrymen, it makes it almost criminal.
Workers, housemaids and labourer have few enough rights without being set up by their own. It’s hard enough to deal with employers that can be unjust without having to also put up with people that should know better than anyone else how hard it can be to get on in life.
As for the suggestion that the sponsorship system should be scrapped, I think it sounds like a great idea. It could be a great way of getting rid of this whole “droit de seigneur” attitude the unscrupulous few have been known to adopt.
