The Prince of Wales and the British royal party may have packed their bags and left Bahrain’s shores but they achieved their charm objective … and none more so than his wife, Camilla.

The Duchess of Cornwall won many admirers during the visit, which was officially described as a tour of the Gulf to “reinforce Britain’s friendship with key allies at the most senior levels”.
Dina Fakhro, editor of Arabian Lady, the Middle East’s exclusive, glossy publication and a favourite amongst the royal, diplomatic and high-flying business circles, said: “I have to say we were utterly charmed by the Duchess of Cornwall.
“She had a very relaxed demeanur and was very warm. But best of all, she had amazing twinkly, blue eyes which were quite mesmerising.”
She even wowed
the GulfWeekly’s elusive Whisperer who was introduced to her during the tour.

He said: “She was far more attractive than I thought she would be. In fact she was rather elegant and very charming.
“What’s more she was more three-dimensional than I would ever have imagined. She listened to what people had to say and was not frightened to give her opinion.
“I think the general consensus was that we were very impressed with her despite there being a genuine undercurrent of opinion that we hadn’t expected to be.”
It appears the ‘Diana factor’ still remains imbedded in the minds of many, until they actually meet ‘the other woman’. Their wedding in 2005 brought to a conclusion a relationship between Charles and Camilla that began when they met at a Windsor polo match in 1970, a year before the prince joined the Royal Navy.
They became great friends but there was no proposal and Camilla married cavalry officer Andrew Parker Bowles.
Charles married the then Diana Spencer in 1981.
The late Diana, Princess of Wales, famously referred to Camilla as one of the contributing factors in the breakdown of her marriage to Charles.
The next stop for the royal couple was the United Arab Emirates - Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
