Gulf Weekly Krazy Kevin's Kids Klub

Bonjour everyone, and hope you’ve enjoyed French Week and have eaten plenty of chocolate croissants just like me.

It’s been a lovely, busy week or two in the ‘Krazy Household’, so let me tell you all about it.
As anyone with kids schooling within the British curriculum will know, school holidays are over.  Or I thought they were, but then all of a sudden it was half term and holidays again.
Anyway, that’s over now too and our little Hannah is back at Little Gems and having a whale of a time.
My wife Wendy says that when she wakes in the morning Hannah says she doesn’t want to go and getting her out the door and at school by 8am tests every parenting skill she has. But whenever I get to pick her up (which is not all that often) she is as happy as anything and bouncing all over the place.
Hannah goes to school three mornings a week. She looks cute as a button in her little red and white checked dress, apron and hat. It makes me feel proud just to look at her though I’m not sure why this is. She just looks so cute it makes me want to giggle. She takes her lunch box, which is a funny thing to call it as she is home again by 12.30pm.  Wendy packs it full so she has plenty to choose from when it’s morning snack time, and whatever is left Hannah has for lunch or eats in the car on the way home.
Little Gems is great and what I like best is the diversity of nationalities of the kids who go there… about 29 apparently.
The school got a new campus this year which was purpose built. As well as having something like seven classrooms there are two shaded play areas that look like so much fun I wish I could be three years old again!
Daily activities include painting and making things, playing with play-dough, doing puzzles and having sports and dance and story times. Best of all for Hannah; there are loads of toys. The other thing I like best about Little Gems is how soundly Hannah sleeps when she has her afternoon nap afterwards.  Aah… Peace!
All the classes are given gem names (hence the name ‘Little Gems’) and Hannah started off in ‘Ruby’ class back in January. She was so clever that it was not long before she was put up into ‘Pearl’ Class. Yeah, I know she was also a bit older than most of the kids in her class but I was still so proud I couldn’t wait to tell everyone what a little bright spark she is.
Hannah still loves her ‘old’ teacher; Miss Debbie though and often drops in to say hello to her before going to her new class. I miss Miss Debbie too… I suspect a lot of the dads really like picking up and dropping off their kids to her class … but I really like Hannah’s ‘new’ teacher Miss Christine too. She’s just great with the kids – even big ones like me, and Hannah just adores her.
During my morning radio show on Sunday I had the pleasure to interview Hassan, or as he is better known ‘Shake’, the lead singer with a brand new group called ‘Brothermandude’.
What a lovely chat we had talking about music how he got the band together and, about being the 1st Bahraini to really hit the big time as far as the music business goes.
I’ve known Hassan for a few years and he’s a great guy with, I think, with huge potential in the music business. Shame he doesn’t like the mornings … he’s missing some great sounds on my show.
At the end of the interview he shocked me by saying he would give away his guitar as a prize to our Gulf Weekly readers and Radio Bahrain listeners. So see the end of this weeks’ article for the competition question.
On Thursday night Wendy, Hannah and I went to dinner with the lovely Rose and Hugh O’Shea.  Also present were Derek, Lorraine and Marion; more good Irish folk getting us ready for our holiday in Dublin.
What an enjoyable night we had; great food (thanks to the chef extraordinaire Rose) and so sorry for being late - we were stuck in traffic for an hour.
I was very thankful that the car I was driving (that Motor City – my thanks Eugene and Christy, had loaned me), had a DVD player in it, as Hannah was as good as gold.
Cars with DVD players hey! What next? Boy is she going to miss it as I have to give it back this week.
Folks, I’m going to be car-less when I get back from my holidays later this month, so if any car dealership out there wants to sponsor me a nice set of wheels you know were to find me.  Anyway, Hugh and Rose were great hosts and took as much care of Hannah as they did of us (which is REALLY taking good care of us).  The company was wonderful and we all went home happy and content.
My family is flying with Gulf Air to Dublin for a short holiday soon, before we go on to Manchester to see my parents, which we are so looking forward to.
It’s sure to be a great trip and we want to say a big thanks to all the nice folks at Gulf Air who’ve helped us plan our trip. The service has been great. When we get back I will be sure to tell everyone all about it.
Next week I’ll tell you about some amazing young artists that I met recently and also what happened on the recent ‘Think Pink’ day.
Keep happy
Krazy Kevin x
