Shaikh Nasser in second place
ROYAL Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa came second in the 120-km Endurance Horserace Championship for the Kingdom of Bahrain Trophy held in the UK.
Shaikh Nasser, the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef) president, headed the five-member Bahraini team which included Shaikh Talal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Ahmed Abdulla, Raed Mahmood and Ahmed Abdulsamad.
Shaikh Nasser settled for second position after a gruelling competition with Great Britain’s Liz Taylor, who won the race.

Festival trophy won
ROAD Maintenance and Projects won the 2007 Works and Housing Minister’s Cup Six-A-Side Soccer Tournament after beating Human Resources Directorate 5-4 on penalties in the final at Gulf Finance House Gym in Umm Al Hassam.  The one-day event was part of a sports festival being annually organised by the ministry for its staff.

Stage set for soccer event
PREPARATIONS are underway for the Al Ta’aruf Soccer Championship, to be organised by Barbar Club in the first week of July.
More than 20 teams representing different clubs and sports centres are expected to take part in this competition which will be staged for the 25th successive year.
Meanwhile, title favourites A’ali kicked off their preparations for the championship with daily training sessions at the club grounds near A’ali Hostels.
