Gulf Weekly Dress etiquetts for wedding guests

Recently a friend asked me, what do I wear to attend a wedding in Europe?

It got me thinking what the dress etiquette is these days when attending weddings.
Firstly you need to think about which season it will be when you attend the wedding, (summer, winter, spring or autumn) then think about where the actual wedding ceremony will take place – in a church or maybe a castle, which seems a popular venue these days.
My friend, for example, got married in a fort on a hill in Tuscany, Italy, last year at 5pm in the afternoon, so it was slightly chilly.
Now, where will the reception be held? Indoors or outdoors – will it be far away from the initial wedding ceremony?
All these factors must be kept in mind when choosing an outfit.
Hopefully, the location of the ceremony and the time, date and where the reception will be held should all be on the invitation.
Just before you hit the shops to buy your outfit, think about the couple’s wishes regarding gifts. In this day and age it seems a lot of couples have lived together a while before they marry and all have numerous gadgets for their homes.
The answer could be to give a gift voucher for a certain store so they can just pick something for themselves.
Although some couples may expect money in an envelope I think this is at the guest’s discretion.
Now for the outfit! If it’s a winter wedding it would make sense to wear a fitted trouser suit. If your invitation continues into the evening simply wear a nice dressy top underneath with a bit of sparkle so when evening comes off so does the jacket!
When choosing a nice feminine dress just think about the weather. It could be a windy day and the last thing you need is to be trying to keep a dress in place throughout an outdoor ceremony. Do take your shawl which will match your outfit.
Hats are not compulsory for weddings and usually only close family relatives choose to wear them – normally the mothers of the bride and groom.
If you do decide to wear a hat make it compliment your outfit and more importantly don’t go too large and extravagant – keep it all in proportion.
Some BIG no no’s when attending a wedding:
Do not wear all white, it’s called trying to upstage the bride!
Do not wear anything too revealing and sexy.
Do not wear black to a daytime wedding.
Do not wear jeans.
Men should always wear a suit and tie as anything else looks too informal and untidy.
Now you have your outfit, the gifts and cards are taken care of, all that’s left is for you to enjoy the couple’s special day
P.S. Do remember to reply to R.S.V.P.
Luxury indulge: La Tweez
          vs
Bargain purchase: Normal Tweezers
The new L.A tweez tweezers are the new hot property to own with a mini mounted light. At the base of the tweezer for precise plucking it also has on the outer case a mini mirror so you can now look after those brows no matter where you are. I think for the little extra price it is defiantly a must have buy.
