Gulf Weekly James clinches top slot at the open

Tony James clinched first place in Riffa Golf Club’s unique version of the British Open with a 54-hole total of 212 strokes.

Members and their guests taking part in the competition drew the name of one of the real British Open players from a hat prior to teeing off this weekend. Their net score for the round was then added to the gross score of their Open “partners” Thursday and Friday rounds.
James scored a net 74 in his weekend round and his Open partner was K J Choi who scored an excellent two under par 69 in each of his two-rounds at the world-famous Carnoustie Golf Course in Scotland.
Murtuz Zamanly came second in the competition with a net of 70 after his partner, Lucas Glover, scored a two-round total one over par at Carnoustie.
