Young Bahrainis aiming to take their first step on the property ladder have snapped up half the homes being constructed in a major housing project in Saar.
Alargan, the company behind the new development, said 52 of the 102 Saar Gate Villas available have already been bought. The houses, which are available to Bahrainis and GCC citizens, are being built on a 55,000 square meter plot in the sought-after area. When completed, the development will boast two and three storey villas as well as 184 residential flats. Sales are ahead of the completion of the development’s show-home which is due to open its doors to potential buyers in mid-September. The foundation stone for the project was laid last May and construction of the villas is expected to be completed by the end of 2008, with the flats following in May 2009. The villas will each have a total floor space of between 240 and 314 square meters, and flats will be between 114 and 144 square meters. Buyers can also request alterations to the interior design. Landscaped communal gardens and on-site shops to cater for residents will also be part of the development. Construction of the development’s residential flats will begin in August, and Alarjan says that they have already received numerous purchase requests, despite not being open to the public yet. Marketing executive, Rania Adbulhamed, said: “The prices of the properties are suitable for what the average Bahraini can pay for.” Prices start from BD99,000 and BD115,000.
