Hi friends,
A patient suffering from severe pain went to a doctor. The doctor diagnosed that his right kidney was not functioning and advised an immediate operation to remove it.

After the operation, when the patient regained consciousness, the doctor told him that there was good news and there was bad news.
The patient asked for the bad news first. The doctor told him that, by mistake, he had taken out his healthy kidney. Flabbergasted, the patient asked for the good news. The doctor gleefully informed him that his earlier diagnosis was wrong and his right kidney was perfectly normal.
If you think that this is a joke, then read recent research, which says that hospital blunders kill more that 35,000 patients each year.
The diagnostic errors, mixed up x-rays, false laboratory reports and administering wrong medicines are only the common mistakes.
More serious problems include operating on the wrong organ or leaving sponges and surgical instruments in the abdomen.
I wonder what would happen if you went to three doctors with the same ailment. Would you receive three different diagnoses and three different prescriptions?
Maria
