Time to move on

IT seems that Jennifer Aniston has piped ex-husband Brad Pitt to the post in Forbes.com’s top-selling famous faces for the first six months of this year.

Coming in first and second respectively while Brad’s new bit (Angelina Jolie) had to make space for Scarlett Johansson in third before coming in at fourth – I bet that made for fireworks over the breakfast table chez Brangelina!

Apparently Jennifer Aniston was on the cover of more magazines that any other celebrity, selling over five million copies of O.K., People, Star, US Weekly, In touch Weekly and Life + Style.

My question is why? She’s very attractive but Hollywood is all about the beautiful people.  Her films are entertaining but she’s no Oscar winner. As part of the Friends team she did a great job and with the cast and comedy being so popular I can understand why she would have been in the number one spot five years ago … but today?

According to America’s Star magazine editor, it’s because: “most women can relate to and empathise with someone that was so in love with a man who, in an incredible Hollywood twist, leaves her for his co-star in a film”. Hardly!

While all of us have suffered heartbreak and and/or been cheated on at one stage or other, few of us were married to a superstar heart-throb that left us for another superstar heart-throb and promptly impregnated her while adopting a roomful of her children.

Few of us have the kind of money to help take the edge off of being abandoned and few of us have newspapers and magazines the world over, publicly expressing their support while casting our ex in a bad light.

The only thing any of us can empathise with her for is the fact that she was left by someone that she loved - as has every other human being on the face of this earth – but it happened over two years ago now and that’s more than enough time for it to be done, dusted and no longer news (or picture) worthy.

Apart from anything else, much as I’m sure Mizz Aniston is glad for the publicity that being the top-selling celebrity face brings, judging by her vociferous opinions on the press getting into her business, I’m sure she wouldn’t appreciate the knowledge that the reason she is the top-selling face is because she got dumped two years ago … Just a thought.
