Dear Stan, Please can you find some space on the letters page to include a picture of this adorable little girl who is no more than six weeks old?
She is extremely feisty and healthy and has so much catitude that it would be unfortunate if she was to become another statistic at the BSPCA – even though they do a marvellous job.
I would keep her myself but with nine cats, three dogs, rabbits, birds, fish … oh yeah and a husband – I think I’ve now got too many myself. She is at a fabulous age that she can be introduced into any loving home where there may already be cats and dogs.
She is already using the kitty tray.
Please ask you readers to call 39478400 or email beccagossip@gmail.com if they think they can offer her a home.
Rebecca,
Adliya
Dear Stan,
I congratulate Shilpa on her marvellous mission of listing all the different prices across Bahrain’s most popular supermarkets. I look forward to reading your findings every week.
We do a major weekly shop and your list provides a good guideline.
I made a similar comparison about a year ago and in my list I highlighted the cheapest price of all of the items. I wonder if you could do the same?
I would be grateful if you could exchange some of the items on your list as follows, please:
1. Ariel instead of Tide
detergent
2. Fairy instead of Lux dishwash
3. Olive rice instead of Tilda
4. Tuna instead of Heinz beans
Also, as a suggestion, I think it would be nice to see the supermarkets in the order of their Grand Total, i.e. the cheapest first.
Additionally, the list would be much easier to check if the items appeared alphabetically instead of in a random order.
Or at least grouped by type, i.e. fruits/vegetables, dairy products, etc.
With kind regards,
Anita Al Hussaini
Editor’s note: Dear Anita, thanks you for your suggestions and we will certainly take them into consideration.
Dear Stan,
Geant HyperMarket has said that writing down the price of items is not allowed due to concern with competitors.
However Gulfweekly publishes the prices of items from all the leading supermarkets.
Does Geant have different policy for common man and another for reporters? Or is all this is just a publicity stunt?
Also, last week's prices for Lurpak Butter show that Al Jazira charges BD0.830, Lulu charges BD0.390 and Geant’s charges BD0.460.
Why is there such huge difference between Al Jazira’s price and the others?
Also a few weeks back someone asked about the price difference of tomatoes from vendors in the kingdom.
Al Jazira answered that their products should not be considered against the ones from street vendors.
What do they have now to say about this?
I think that supermarkets are also superlooters!
Thanks,
Abdulla
