Nissan unleased four new "super models" at the ceremony on Sunday evening at Y K Almoayyed & Sons showroom in Sitra.

The refined sedan Altima, the Qashqai small crossover, the rugged Xterra SUV and the stunning looking Navara pick-up have created a storm since they arrived just seven days ago.

A press conference and launch event was attended by Mr M Bheemshankar, general manager, Alan Guest, chief executive, Farouk Almoayyed, chairman, and Mujeeb Carimpunathayai, senior manager of Nissan Middle East.

Mr Bheemshankar said: "The response from the public has been fantastic and we feel that we have four winners on out hands. We are very proud of these cars."

The award-winning Altima is available with a long list of advanced technology including Nissan's new generation continuously variable transmission, intelligent key with push button ignition, built-in bluetooth hands-free phone system and an option of a nine-speaker BOSE audio system with iPod connection and dual-zone automatic climate control and steering wheel mounted controls.

"This new Altima feels like a completely different and more luxurious vehicle in terms of design, use of quality materials and available amenities - it's quiet, comfortable and rewarding," added Mr Bheemshankar.

The new Qashqai boasts bold styling and is designed to add a new dimension to the small crossover utility market - aiming at "satisfying both the functional and emotional needs" of customers.

The vehicle features a 2,631 mm wheelbase, amongst the longest in class, and the body also boasts large front door openings.

The Xterra is everything you would expect from an exceptional SUV with features which include dual airbags and anti-lock braking system and it aims to be "be ready for wherever the road takes you".

The zone body construction disperses crash energy to help protect the occupant compartment in case of a crash. For that it is equipped with an array of safety features that include front and rear crumple zones. Energy-absorbing frame side-members and cross-members, reinforced body structure and bumper height and frame structure designed for compatibility with other vehicles.

The long-bodied, double-cab 2008 Navara is likely to captivate the many drivers who adore getting behind the wheels of a pick-up in Bahrain.

The 2WD has a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder, 16-valve petrol engine that turns out 162 hp at 5,200 rpm and is sure to turn a few heads too.
