Just ten days after its grand opening, the new Hunainiya Driving Range at Bahrain Golf Club is already proving to be a big hit with Bahrainis and expats alike as golf lessons conducted by PGA professionals get under way.

The range, which is open to the public, was officially opened last Saturday and has been donated to the kingdom by Arcapita Bank as the first step in the establishment of a golf academy at the club.

Golf professionals from the former Riffa Golf Club at Riffa Views are offering 30-minute golf lessons at the range which are proving popular with both adults and junior golfers. Six for the price of five lesson packages are also selling well with golfers in Bahrain keen to get in plenty of practice ahead of the opening of the new Colin Montgomerie-designed golf course at Riffa Views next May.

"The new driving range is very accessible to people of all backgrounds and abilities," explained Riffa Views head teaching professional Chris Kelby.

"Golfers wishing to practice their drives do not need to book in advance and can hire a bucket of 60 golf balls for only BD2 and a golf club for just BD1. Lessons tailored for people at all levels of the sport cost BD13 each or BD65 for the package and lessons for youngsters are only BD9 each.

Anyone wishing to book a golf lesson with a PGA professional can contact Chris Kelby on 39797633 or Colin Ferguson on 39721004. Alternatively email chris@riffagolfclub.com.bh or colin@riffagolfclub.com.bh

Opening times for golfers wishing to practice at the Hunainiya Driving Range are:

Weekends (Thursday, Friday & Saturday) 6.30am to 9pm; Weekdays (Sunday to Wednesday) 7.30am to 9pm.
