It's been another completely crazy week, full of fun and variety. Friday found me DJ-ing at the annual Bahrain Wheelathon, which due to the dusty weather was unfortunately not as busy as last year.

It was a real shame that more people didn't brave the elements; as despite low visibility and swirling sand it was nowhere near as bad as it looked. In fact, because it was overcast it was also pleasantly cool, and although the strong wind made cycling or skating into the wind hard work it was very good for the thighs (so I'm told) and it also meant you could practically fly when the wind was behind you.

The wind was so strong that at one point a mate of mine said that he managed to go uphill without peddling! Although this particular gent has been known to stretch the truth at times, on this occasion I believe him.

I know that where I was working (just downwind from a candy floss and popcorn stand) the wind was almost gale force and every time someone dropped their popcorn it flew straight at me and it felt like I was being pelted with stones.

As if that wasn't bad enough, candy floss was also flying around in the wind and seemed to head straight towards me, making me stickier and sticker, then more popcorn followed, which stuck to the candy floss and well, I guess you get the rather sticky messy picture. By the end of the day I felt practically edible as well as completely dusty.

My little daughter Hannah and wife Wendy went bike riding around the track and what a difference a year makes. Last year Wendy walked as she pushed Hannah along on her trike. This year they both biked it ... until the wind pushed Hannah off her bike sideways. What a little trouper though. When they eventually made it back to the entrance area where I was working, they both had a snack and then got straight back on their bikes and rode around and around for ages as well as through the Gulf Air 'cool down' sprinklers over and over again.

That night I headed down to a Food Festival at the Indian Club where I'd been invited by the Indian Ladies Association.

I had to go straight from the Wheelathon, so if there was any popcorn still stuck in my hair they were all too polite to mention it. Well, what a fabulous night it was. I was very well looked after; although the honest truth is that my English taste buds are still recovering from all the curry and spices.

The next day was also busy, busy, busy! I headed down to the Marina Club for the Al Moayyed International Group Fun Day. And it really was! There were fire eaters and belly dancers, plenty of fun for kids and much much more as well.

Even the Radio Jockies from 104.2 Voice FM were there to co-compere with me. Juhi and Jijit were just great and are a pair of natural performers both on and off the radio.

While I was there an artist drew a caricature of me. He did a great job, and reinforced the general consensus that I have a great face for radio. It was a late and a great night.

I also ran into my old pal Heather who used to be a newsreader on Radio Bahrain and who was back in Bahrain on a short holiday. When she left she dropped some Hello magazines and a packet of green tea in my car. (Their holiday was over and they didn't want to take this stuff with them). It really made me laugh. There is a half-full packet of green tea in our cupboard from the last time they visited! Next time you come to Bahrain Heather, don't buy another packet ... just come over to our place and we'll give you the old packets back!

Keep Happy All,

Krazy Kevin
