Gulf Weekly what happened

FORTY years on, what became of the 60s generation who believed in love not war, who broke the traditional role of two parent families, who lived on love and fresh air instead of on salaries?

As teenagers they created new words such as 'sit-ins' and 'love-ins' and followed anti-war singers and musicians like Bob Dylan and Joan Baez.

Some 'Baby Boomers' today are now caught in a trap between two generations - supporting their children - some of them adults who still live at home - as well as caring for ageing parents, thus preventing them from saving for their own futures.

How come they did not all end up as doped-to-the-eyeballs no-hopers, down on their luck, bedraggled hobos with unkempt tangled hair?

GulfWeekly searched Bahrain and found a clutch of fascinating 'baby boom' swinging sixties survivors.
