One of Bahrain's top drivers, Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa, enjoyed a splendid weekend as he managed to pick up his second podium place in the British F3 International Series National Class at Croft Circuit.
The first race, on Saturday, saw a bout of bad luck for the competitor as the rain poured down. With a wet track up ahead, the car was prepared for wet conditions and the Unicorn Investment Bank driver qualified for eighth on the grid in the first race.
But following a misfire during the formation lap, Shaikh Salman was forced to head back to the pits in his Mugen Honda, which inevitably set him back two laps and had him start from the pitlane.
Four laps and several investigations later, the problem was addressed as he headed back to the pit - it was an unfortunate problem with the air intake filter foam which set the driver back.
The Bahraini star managed to get a quick check on the car's performance and finished the race in 8th position picking up a crucial three points. A tremendous effort from Shaikh Salman saw him hold onto the fastest lap time until the last lap when National Class winner, Andrew Mayrick, clinched the faster lap.
As the water dried up, Shaikh Salman made an excellent start in race two having started second on the grid and managed to avoid an accident amongst the front rows.
With the safety cars jumping in to slow the race down, the race was called to a halt and restarted just 20 minutes later with Shaikh Salman sitting tightly in second position.
Shaikh Salman held onto his position amidst the fierce competition throughout the race.
