THIS week a new little lady entered my life and before you get any funny ideas I'll tell you that my wife Wendy was really very happy about it!

On Friday during my radio show I received a phone call from the Welsh wizard himself; Chris Lewis asking if I could put do an announcement to see if anyone would like a puppy that he had found outside his compound three weeks earlier in a terrible state; very thin and full of ticks.

He had nursed the poor animal back to health and now needed to find a home for her. Unfortunately, all my 'shout outs' are said on a Thursday afternoon and come through the lovely people at the BSPCA, but I asked him what sort of dog it was anyway and he replied that it was Cocker Spaniel puppy.

I found myself thinking that well, we have moved to a bigger a place with a garden and my little daughter Hannah wanted a dog so badly.

So, we went round the next day to see the 'puppy' and all immediately fell in love with her.

But she certainly was not a cocker! Chris had named her Sasha and she has a funny looking face with a very large under-bite.

My wife Wendy wanted to call her Fang. (And she calls me cheeky!) But what a beautiful, gentle and good natured dog she is.

I booked an appointment with the lovely Nonie Coutts, the vet, to have her checked over and also to get any jabs that were needed and guess what? We discovered that she wasn't a puppy at all - she is about three years old, and is a Shiatsu (hope I spelt that correct) cross.

Well that explains why she walks so well on a lead and is not at all bothered by her new collar!

But it makes me so mad to think about all the hurt she has gone through in her short life and I never cease to be amazed at how people can be so cruel as to abandon animals.

The only problem is that she is not toilet trained. We were not so worried about this when we thought she was a puppy. But teaching a three year dog may not be so easy.

She is so sweet though that it will be well worth the effort. (Any tips on how to achieve this will be very welcome).

On Friday night I DJ'd at Sami Khoeghi (my favourite Bahraini Olympian) and fiancŽe Carrie's engagement party.

It was another great night with lots of people thoroughly enjoying themselves. Often something funny happens when I'm working and this night was no exception; whilst everyone was dancing I put on a Dr. Alban track called 'It's My Life', it played for all of about 30 seconds when a guy comes up and says in a really straight voice "Tell everyone that this singer is from Sweden!"

I paused for a minute wondering what the heck he was on about, and then cheerfully announced that "he's from Sweden".

Naturally people looked at me as though I had a screw loose! The next song I played was from Abba and guess what I said? Of course; "This group is from Sweden too!" The crowd fell about in stitches.

It was a long and wonderful evening and glancing at my watch as I chatted to Anne (Sami's mum) I realised it was already 2.30am. So I bade farewell to everyone (who had by now moved to the swimming pool).

A big mention goes out to a few of the dancers on the night; especially Carrie's old Gulf Air mates Candice and Sonia who bopped away to all the tunes I played and reminded me of my earlier years DJ-ing at JJ's and BJ's.

Keep happy and keep dancing!
