While the concept of the hypermarket is not new to Bahrain, the opening of the Bahrain City Centre will introduce the kingdom's first Carrefour to the market.

Considered worldwide as the hypermarket role model, the Carrefour at the Bahrain City Centre - encompassing 16,600 square metres- will be the largest retail anchor store at the Centre and in the kingdom - a recent claim made by rivals Lulu in Riffa which opened to hundreds of excited customers two weeks ago.

Carrefour is set to offer 35,000 products in its new hypermarket, which it claims 'should reset the standard for one-stop shopping' in the kingdom.

Derek Rossel, Bahrain City Centre's general manager, said: "At Carrefour, low price does not mean low quality. Quality is one element which is never compromised in our quest to provide the best deals for our customers.

"We are delighted to be able to bring to the people of Bahrain the quality of service and commitment that consumers around the world have come to expect and enjoyed from Carrefour."
