It is funny how it we tend to ignore the smallest things in life. I recently read a book by Paulo Coelho called The Alchemist which I highly recommend. The book is about a young boy who travels to an unknown country in search of treasure. In the end, he does indeed find his treasure, in the face of adversity in where he could not even speak the language; however, he spoke of the universal language of love and emotion in order to achieve his dream.
I could not help but wonder about my own attempts to achieve my dreams.
Many times, people ask me why I dream so much or why I always aim so high. I can already hear some say: Why aim for a UK or North American University when you can easily get into a university over here and breeze through four years of education with straight As?
Well, to tell you guys the truth, my family's finance is limited and we cannot pay for university overseas. However, I know deep in my heart that if I indeed work hard enough and show what potential I could reach, then why not aim for scholarships and financial aids to study abroad. You see, I could, right now and here, give up on my dream to become something great and easily work averagely in school and achieve average grades and attend an average university. But I am here and now. I know for a fact that I must at least attempt to achieve my dream even if it is a long shot. The sky is the limit for those who dare to dream.
Therefore just like the protagonist in The Alchemist, I will be persistent in challenging to achieve my dreams. And even if I did not achieve what my heart desires, I will know for sure that I have tried my best.
Therefore, I bring you words of encouragement this week that you all can achieve what you heart desires if you only put in the right amount of effort and resources. But do not feel upset or let down if what you dream for does not become reality, for we are all bound together in this universe by a force that has greater and bigger dreams than ours.
