Bahrain Air gave a positive message as it participated in The Second Middle East Aviation Outlook Summit in Abu Dhabi.

The summit is firmly established as the top strategic aviation forum in the region, where the key decision makers from airlines and airports across the Middle East and North Africa come together to outline their strategic vision for the forthcoming years.

The airline's managing director Ibrahim Al Hamer said: "Despite economic turbulence, budget carriers in the region seem prepared to soldier on. The aviation industry in the world is facing significant challenges in light of the economic crisis in various countries around the world and various industries and this conference is to discuss and examine how to create appropriate and effective solutions to restore the situation."

He highlighted that budget carriers in the Middle East have witnessed rapid growth during the last few years and said he expects development in the budget market to continue partly because of the economic crisis.

"The adverse economic conditions will not stop the Bahrain Air operation from becoming one of the region's leading carriers," said Mr Al Hamer. "Budget carriers will benefit from frugal passengers seeking more 'attractive and affordable flights' across the Middle East."

Meanwhile, the airline's network is set to cover 21 destinations across the Middle East and Indian subcontinent.

Once the expansion strategy is complete, the airline is confident that passenger loads, which have increased from 20 to 60 per cent since Bahrain Air's inception in early 2008, will continue to rise and that budget carriers will witness increased growth because of the current world economy crisis and under liquidity.

The company this week received its new Airbus A319 bringing the fleet to four aircraft.
