Bahrain's cafŽ culture is going hi-tech with the emergence of a new kind of multi-media eating and meeting place where the big 'mac' meets the apple!

Apple Mac devotees who want to get the most out of their latest gadgets are meeting up in Hamala at the new iSpace store which feeds the mind as well as the body.

The store is a new concept conceived by Khalid Almoayed & Sons to cater to the growing demand of the popular brand's products amongst Bahraini youngsters.

It is defined as a 'technology meets lifestyle' destination where visitors can explore digital hobbies like photography, music, video, design and interior designing in addition to training on Mac, Adobe software products and more.

The interactive store recently hosted an evening at which three of the island's local bands performed to a packed house of music lovers.

Band members of Silverlake, one of the participants, are now regular visitors to the store. Hameed Al Saeed, 17, from Isa Town, said: "A friend of ours invited us to perform and now we drop by every time we rehearse at the Room2Rock studios next door."

Another visitor, Bahrain Bayan School student Mohammed Al Mannai, 15, from Riffa, said: "I was thinking of buying a Mac and this place looks great."

iSpace also features a chic Wi-Fi lounge as well as a sandwich bar serving organic meals courtesy of VIDA, the well-known sandwich and snack maker.

The store is also focusing on becoming a destination for 'edutainment' in Bahrain with recent initiatives such as providing training in photography, ArchiCAD and related software for architects and Mac software including iLife and iWork.

As part of this programme, iSpace is offering summer training for children aged eight to 18 on iLife from July 13 to 16 from 10am to noon.

The training aims to help develop and improve children's skills in photos, movies, music and internet.

But it's not all work and no play, for iSpace is also one of the few stores in the island to sell Mac games.
