Teachers at the Bahrain Music Institute, Richard Marcelo and Ramil Benito will hold a performance on Spanish and classical guitar music on Friday at 7.30pm at the Shaikh Isa bin Salman Cultural Hall's Alumni Club in Adliya.
Richard began playing guitar in high school and went on to study guitar performance at the UST Conservatory of Music in Manila where he gained his bachelor's degree in Music before embarking on a career as a solo performer and teacher.
He has also composed many new works for classical guitar and has recently published his own guitar tutor book to aid guitar teaching for his own students.
Ramil Benito graduated in music from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila and has toured internationally as a classical guitarist so is certainly no stranger to the performing platform.
They will perform works by some of the most popular musicians of Spanish origin and influence including Manuel De Falla, Argentinian composer Astor Piazolla, the Italian born Carulli and Cuba's most well known composer Leo Brouwer.
The concert will be the first of many in the new Music of the Masters concert series, which aims to promote talented Bahrain based musicians and will feature music from a wide variety of different cultures and musical genres. The next event in the series will feature Iraqi oud player Saad Jawad.
A proportion of the proceeds from this concert series will be donated to charity.
