University College of Bahrain (UCB) is celebrating an extremely successful academic year in which, as well as continuing to invest in its facilities and staff, it has forged impressive bonds with various international organisations.
November 2008 saw the first ever world convention of Eduniversal, an organisation which carries out extensive research to come up with its list of the world's top 1000 business schools and faculties of management.
One hundred and twenty schools from 60 countries participated in the event and, of the top 1000, the best three for each of nine geographical regions was chosen.
UCB was awarded three palmes voted on its international influence, its national strength and its varied continental links.
The award placed UCB above all but one other Arabic university and alongside such well-known North American institutions as Canada's Dalhousie University and the USA's Le High University College of Business and Economics.
Then, in April, UCB signed a memorandum of understanding with Tala Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business Administration in Jordan aiming at integrated academic programmes for scientific and practical developments.
Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, president and founder of UCB, said: "The agreement stresses the distinctiveness of the quality of our curriculum. The goal is to support our students with the practical knowledge and experience to provide them with a leading edge to compete in the labour market."
And most recently UCB has signed to enter into a student exchange programme with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology whose business school is ranked the number one in Asia by the Financial Times.
