DETAILS for the upcoming Bahrain International Property Exhibition 2009 (BIPEX) were revealed during a special Salmaniya Rotary Club lunch.

Chairman of the BIPEX publicity committee Rizwan Mumtaz told members that so far the main sponsors committed to the event are Diyar Al Muharraq as prime sponsor, Ithmaar Development company, Gulf Holding company and Al Khaleej Development company (TAMEER) as diamond sponsors, Marina West, Scott Wilson, First Bahrain Real Estate and Ahad Holdings as platinum sponsors and Eskan Bank and Orchid Development company as gold sponsors.

BIPEX 2009 is also supported by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs has also confirmed its participation.

Now in its sixth edition, BIPEX 2009, organised by the Bahrain Society of Engineers and held under the patronage of Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister's Court, will run from October 14-16 from 10am to 9pm at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre.

One of the highlights of the property expo will be the interactive seminar which will provide technical details to potential investors and will cover topics such as real estate project design and construction aspects and the real estate market outlook in Bahrain.

Speaking at the launch of the event earlier this year BSE president A Majeed Al Gassab said: "BIPEX 2009 comes at a crucial time when market confidence in the real estate sector has received a setback because of the adverse impact of the global economic crisis.

"Investors have become very cautious as a result, but we are confident that the sixth edition of this event will play a vital role in restoring confidence in the markets.

"The outlook favours an upturn because, despite the projected slowdown, the GCC real estate sector has been continuously growing and drawing the attention of investors and buyers.

"The simple truth is that the real estate market will continue to be an attractive investment in the long run because there will always be a strong demand for properties in a young and growing population."

BIPEX 2008 attracted a record 13,500 footfalls, bringing together 98 participants from Bahrain, the UK, Portugal, India, the Philippines, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan to showcase real estate and infrastructural projects with an asset worth of $50 billion (BD 18,850,499,391).
