The glamorous House of Cartier recently hosted a cocktail reception inviting top officials, VIP's and the press to the inauguration of its new boutique in the kingdom's Moda Mall.

The boutique bears the signature of Bruno Moinard, the architect-designer responsible for all Cartier stores around the world.

The opening ceremony was conducted in the attendance of Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Culture and Information, and was presided over by Bernard Fornas, president and chief executive officer of Cartier International, Louis Ferla, managing director of Cartier Middle East, and Mohammed Jaffar, chief executive officer of Asia Jewellers.

Following the official ribbon cutting, Cartier, known for its renowned French jewellery and watches, revealed its rich historic connections with the kingdom through a unique photo exhibition displayed in a Giant Red Box at the mall atrium.

Cartier has a long-standing relationship with the country since 1911 when Jacques Cartier travelled to the Gulf in search of fine pearls, stopping over in Bahrain.

The photographic exhibition organised in association with the Tourism Sector of the Ministry of Culture and Information will be held until April 15 presenting a group of previously unseen photographs related to his journey to the region.

It's a project that gives Bahrain's public the opportunity to rediscover its pearl diving history as well as the many sides of the travelling adventures of one of the most prestigious jewellers in the world.

Meanwhile, the boutique was shone with Cartier's signature watches and jewelled accessories.

Models showcased some of the brand's designs with one model wearing collectibles ranging from BD21,000 to BD380,000.

The earrings featured are available at BD21,000, the necklace - BD104,500, the ring - BD365,000, the bracelet - BD115,000 and the watch - BD380,000.

If readers fancy trying them on they will be invited into a private room for viewing and fittings.
