Starry-eyed schoolboy Kiren Titus regularly visited his favourite store to look at the marvellous musical instruments on display ... and now he is all grown up and working behind the counter helping other music-lovers to develop their talents.
Ambassador Stores, next to Bab Al Bahrain in Manama, is part of Bahrain's music scene folklore and proof of this can be found in its busy guitar section now headed by the former customer and sales executive.
Born and brought up in Bahrain, the 27-year-old Indian fell in love with the store when he first visited it with his father at the age of nine. Kiren, from Muharraq, said: "It brings back so many wonderful memories of my childhood. I really enjoyed visiting and that's why I'm so happy to be a part of the company now."
Spanning over 50 years of existence, Ambassador Stores continues to attract customers from around the island with its extensive range of musical instruments, watches and home entertainment products.
The store is currently staging a 50 per cent discount promotion until June 10 for a range of home theatre systems and musical instruments from JBL, Harman/Kardon and Yamaha, speakers from Infinity and Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) as well as Seiko watches and clocks.
General manager Lathesh G Chandra said: "This is our sale designed specially for those going home for the summer."
It is part of a series of special promotions held throughout the year which help draw in new and regular customers alike. Later this month the store will be focusing on instruments for those children using the school break as an opportunity to start music classes rather than travelling away with their families.
Mr Chandra says currently the Yamaha acoustic guitars are proving particularly popular starting from only BD32.
The store is also well-known for its range of clocks and watches, of which the quartz and kinetic collection receives the most interest.
