Finding inspiration in the exquisite nature of Arabic inscription and the detailed patterns of Arabic geometrical design, Anas Younis Shanaah is the fashion designer behind aennis eunis, a new fashion line that fuses the traditional heritage of the Arabian world with a modern twist throughout its designs.
From October, Younis is unveiling a limited selection of shoes from his latest aennis eunnis line to an elite fashion set of 150 prominent trendsetters in the region, including royalty, who will be presented with an exclusive pair of shoes representing 'their dedication to the world of fashion and strong roots'.
"Each item I create, whether a stunning pair of heals, ornate accessories or show-stopping dress, is inspired by the rich Arabian elements that surround us on a day-to-day basis that we could possibly take for granted. I wanted to showcase these unique elements through my designs and express the strong cultural images that make up our heritage," he said.
The full collection, including shoes costing between $500 - $800, accessories and clothing, will be available across the region before the end of the year for those, the designer says, whose lives embody both traditional and modern excellence, a style he believes he has mirrored.
The entire aennis eunis range will be steeped in Middle Eastern flavour with a 'fresh and trendy' look. There will be two distinct collections launched - Calligraphy and Arabesque - aimed at both bringing a unique and exotic touch to the world of luxury fashion.
The Calligraphy collection is a celebration of the sensual lines of Arabic lettering designed to add a sophisticated, yet mystical flavour to each ageless work of art. The choice of exquisite leather and lavish materials, along with the fine Italian craftsmanship claims to turn each fashion item into a masterpiece.
The Arabesque collection embraces the beautiful geometric patterns that have been found on walls, floors and ceilings across the Arabian world for centuries. The designer says the luminous historic expressions translate seamlessly to create exceptional shoes, accessories and apparel that deliver contemporary and stylish pieces wrapped in a veil of rich traditions.
After completing his degree in architecture in Jordan in 1992, Younis embarked on his career in fashion by working closely with experts in the leather goods field in Florence, Italy.
He then moved to New York to study industrial design and spent 15 years collaborating with high-end retailers, designers and factories. His expertise in design and his eye for detail and architectural gems paved the way for his unique and eccentric fashion designs and collections.
Younis says he owes the idea behind his new creation to his solid cultural ties, his unique approach to design and his attention to detail. "I come from a strong background of taste and predilection of the Arabian world," he explained. "An eclectic mixture of cultural experiences allowed me to take pride in being an Arab and determined to parade to the fashion world what we can create as Arabs. Ultimately, I developed an increasing passion to design my own line of women's wear and accessories."
Finding inspiration from his ethnic background and varied worldly experiences, Younis established his brand label, aennis eunis, in 2009.
