KEEPING on the 'hit man' theme, the stars have been out in force for the red carpet launches across the globe of RED, which stands for 'Retired Extremely Dangerous'.

The $58m production follows a group of ex-CIA operatives (played by Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Mary-Louise Parker, Helen Mirren, and John Malkovich) who have to come out of retirement after leaked government secrets makes them all targets for assassins.

Bruce Willis and company shot most of the movie in Toronto, but wrapped up the last few weeks of filming in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

Robert Schwentke's comedy-actioner adapted from Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner's violent graphic novel, has surpassed expectations by drawing $22.5m on its opening weekend.
