Excitement abounds for cricket lovers on the island as Bahrain Cricket League's (BCL) annual seven-a-side tournament is scheduled on the second day of Eid Al Adha. This will be the fourth of the events on the BCL's calendar for the season.
All 46 teams registered with the BCL will be in the fray for the event which will be played at the Busaiteen, Riffa and Awali cricket grounds from 7.45am to 4.30pm on November 17. The tournament will be played in the format of the Hong Kong Sixes.
Earlier, the BCL conducted another seven-a-side on the second day of Eid Al Fitr which was followed by two ongoing Twenty20 tournaments - a league and a knockout - in the ICC (International Cricket Council) format.
The BCL season, which started on September 11, runs until June 2011. The events, some of which run concurrently, involves over 500 players in two sessions every Friday.
BCL general secretary Mujtaba Nazir said: "Our focus is on enhancing the participation of expatriates and Bahraini cricketers as well as to strengthen the fraternity of cricket-loving people in the kingdom."
